We don't want your money

We atare asking you to help children in very practical ways.

If this website touches your heart, all we ask is that you send the baby or children’s clothes that you have in your ragbag or recycle box to South Africa instead – it would be more appreciated than you will ever know!

Julian and Kirsty Kotze, are both Tourism guides for well-known tour operators, but still find time out of their busy schedules to support a network of small charities, all run on a shoestring in South Africa.   All of these struggling concerns support children, ranging from 1 day to 16 years, who are suffering from HIV/Aids and are at various stages of progression of the diseases caused by immunity failure.

If black South African parents die of HIV, custom and practice has always been that grandparents automatically support their children.  Nowadays the family unit is under so much pressure the grandparents cannot cope with looking after all these little ones.  They themselves most often have no running water or sanitation, money is extremely short and they can’t afford to feed and clothe the children. Through various official and unofficial routes the children end up “given away” via the police or the court to local orphanages or foster homes.

It is this network of homes that RagBag supports.

Ragbag was founded by Sandra Niven in May 2008 and has already attracted supporters around the world as you will see on the International Network page and she is the UK communications contact.
